“The Beach House, Part Three”
by beforethefall [Inkbunny]#
Been a few days since I journaled. Looking back, it seems I fell off the day of the bonfire, so I guess…here goes. Strap in, cuz' I think this is going to be a long one.
Just… wow. The bonfire was awesome, and I can't believe I was hesitant. There's a really cool group of younger adults like me here, and everyone is so chilled out and easy-going, it really is a whole different world. Unlike anything back on the mainland, I think I'm finally starting to understand why Duncan wanted me to come here, maybe.
A lot of stuff is starting to come into focus, now. I knew there was something special about Rikia, and holy shit I can't believe I didn't smell it on her sooner. She's a Heatwave kid just like me and Emma; no wonder she slipped under my skin so easily. We had a good time after the bonfire, nothing serious or anything, but it was nice to fool around with someone who understands what the Heatwave did to us firsthand. Big bonus, she seems really into what the Heatwave gave me, and I'll give her as much as she wants. I think I'd do anything for another taste of what it gave her. It's been four days since then and I swear I can still smell her in my fur; honeysuckle and ocean water and this really unique, exotic musk that's just drenched with that perfect, permanent Heatwave heat. Out of all of the options available, that's still my favorite fucking drug. Well, that and ecstasy. It's like that shit was custom made for Heatwave kids.
Now that I think about it, that might be why the dreams have started back up again too; I can't even remember the last time I had a Heatwave dream before I came here, but last night's was pretty intense. Kind of like always, it was hard to make out, but I remember one bit, right before I woke up. Rikia and her son Tempesta were there, as well as Rikia's friend Kelly and her daughter Jannet. I can only really remember one thing clearly, though; Rikia and Kelly were nestled in on either side of me, while their kids slept on my belly; Jannet straddling Tempesta's lap. I could feel both Rikia and Kelly's pregnant bellies under my hands as we all just chilled, fucked-out and enjoying the afterglow. Somehow I just knew those pregnant bellies were mine, too. Wouldn't that be the fucking life?
Yeah right, in your fucking dreams, Jack.
When we were still young, us Heatwave kids used to joke among ourselves that the dreams we had were prophetic; they could somehow show us our future that would eventually come to pass. Sure, it was just kids goofing off and crafting their own weird flavor of urban lore, but these last few days, I've had to keep reminding myself that the Heatwave has been fucking with my head like that since I was fifteen. Since that sweaty summer morning when Em told me not to pull out. When I put our baby in her belly.
We were so fucking stupid. It wasn't our fault, the research doctors said; the Heatwave did the same thing to tens of thousands of people. But we chose to abort, and I still haven't forgiven myself for it. Sometimes I wonder if Em and I would still be together if we kept it.
Maybe that's why I feel so much love for Tempesta already. He really is precious. Rikia and I have been spending more time with each other the last few days, and he's always along for the ride. I wouldn't have it any other way. I've only known him for a week and I'd already kill and die for him. His mom, too, for that matter.
The scary part is, even after all this time, I can't tell if that's the Heatwave talking or me. The line between the two is so blurry anymore, like when you mix chocolate syrup into milk. At first there's a clear line of division, but over time they start to dissolve into each other until you can't really tell where one starts and the other ends. Now, I can't even believe I never wanted kids before the Heatwave got me, because over the last week, fatherhood's been at least half of what I think about on a given day, just like when the Heatwave was at its peak.
Sometimes, I wonder what else might be different if the Heatwave never happened. Or, if it had happened while we were off on one of those nightmare family vacations. We'd come back to Aardvark Heights and find the smell of cum and sweat and sex that hung on the air everywhere for two weeks repulsive, instead of reflexively getting all hot and bothered over every little whiff, because someone must have just gotten lucky somewhere upwind.
My counselor told me I'd have to just accept that things are different for me, though; just like pretty much every 90s kid from Aardvark Heights does. Generally, I guess I have, but I often find myself asking these questions like, what if I just gave in to all those urges - even the most taboo ones? Would it really be as bad as I assume, or … I don't know, would there be a way to make it work? On the mainland it definitely wouldn't, but here? In Sol de Vida? I've got enough practical skills I could probably get by in their barter economy. Rikia knows how to fish, and I know enough about freshwater fishing at least that I could figure out saltwater probably. I could build a little hut down at the far end of the island near hers and live rough. Like an extended backpacking trip, but more naked, and with like thirty or forty kids. Shit, I made myself laugh at that.
What about those other urges, though? The ones I can't put into writing? I'm terrified that I might hurt someone I love, and that's not a fucking option. But here I am, unable to tell if its the Heatwave talking or me, when I think that in a lot of cases the trauma doesn't specifically come from the act, but from normie society's reaction to the act. Obviously there are a lot of other things - things I'd never fucking do - that would undoubtedly cause harm, but… what if everyone's having fun? What if there's real consent there? What if consent and autonomy and personhood are honored, and there's no power exchange aside from the power of love and affection between two people?
Okay. I need to stop writing those thoughts down, really. I'd be so fucked if anyone snooped in my journals. Not sure if I just need to go beat off or cry or just run to profess my stupid fucking Heatwave puppy love to Rikia right now and blow the whole fucking thing up. I know she's not there yet, but it doesn't stop me from feeling like that fuse has been lit between us. It still scares the shit out of me, like at the end of that fuse there's a firecracker bigger than anything you've ever seen before and you have no idea what to expect. Those tense fractions of a second where you're frozen between curiosity of the unknown, and wondering if you've backed off far enough.
I haven't felt the anxiety vortex churning like this in a long time and like eight or nine Xanax bars would really hit the fucking spot right now. Crush those fuckers into dust and suck them right up my nose. Embrace the burn that makes my eyes water. Learn to love the bitter, chemical-flavored drainage at the back of my throat. It's been years since I fucked around with shit like that but I can't deny the allure right now.
It doesn't help that it doesn't feel like journaling is exactly helping, anymore. I might just stop for a little while, and try to get out of my own head and just live in the moment for a week or two. Take life as it comes, you know. But if I start feeling worse, I'll come back. Promise, my beloved little composition books. I'll never leave you forever. I still have like ten stories to finish anyway.
I should get going. I slept in way too late, and spent a little too long in the water this morning too. Heading to see Thomas so I can get some compost and soil on the order he's sending back with the weekly ferry today; hopefully it'll get here on next week's ferry. Can’t wait to spend a fortune on that, but the date opportunity is well worth it.
Chapter Six - Seeds#
With the late-morning sun to their backs, Jack held the little finishing nail steady in its position on the bottom rim of the empty beer can as Tempesta wielded a hammer, perched atop the bear's knee. Jack had already taken a couple misses to the thumb and hand, but fortunately, the young lutrai didn't possess enough strength to bring the hammer down with enough force to actually harm the bear. Rikia watched from nearby, where she sat as she carefully wielded an old shell to smooth down the edges inside the rim of the cans, where the lids had been cut out to turn them into makeshift plant pots. The young lutrai swung the hammer down, and it connected with the head of the nail, spiking another drainage hole into the bottom of the can that balanced on a rock at the edge of one of the stones that jutted up from the sand behind Rikia's bamboo hut.
“Hey, great shot, kid!” Jack laughed as he pulled the nail free of its hole, "You're getting pretty good at this. Think you're ready to try holding the nail on your own, too?"
“Uhhh, th' hammer's kind'a heavy,” Tempesta giggled as he knelt in the sand beside Jack.
“Sure, kiddo? I bet a big strong lutrai like you can swing it one-handed. Wanna try?” Jack encouraged, and Tempesta beamed with an eager and energetic grin.
“Sure!” the boy said, wielding the hammer heavily, gripped far too close to the bottom of its handle. It swung unsteadily in the young lutrai's grip until Jack leaned in and helpfully re-positioned the young boy's grip.
“Try that, buddy, it might be easier,” Jack urged, repositioning the nail to a new spot on the bottom of the can. Tempesta eagerly swung, and it connected just a little off-center, but solidly enough that the nail pierced a new hole into the can. “Ha! Aced it, kiddo. Good job,” Jack mused. Tempesta squealed with giggling glee and immediately drew back, ready to take another swing.
Rikia watched as the two continued in this fashion, slowly and methodically prying the sharp edges inward and against the walls of the cans to secure against the threat of cuts to all but the most determined of fingers. She finished with the can she was working on, and scooped it full of the fresh, rich black soil they'd mixed together in an old cooler nearby, and nestled it into the sand to await the seeds that were still secured in their pouches nearby. She started on a fresh can, and just admired Jack and Tempesta across the stone. They were a sight to behold on the other side of their makeshift workbench, the massive bear so tenderly interacting with the tiny lutrai child as they bonded and joked around. Tempesta had quickly grown fond of Jack in his first few days on the island, and Jack seemed to be growing equally fond of the young lutrai as well, by her estimation. There was never an embrace denied, nor even the tiniest flash of irritation as the young lutrai explored the world around him and tried new things the bear could introduce him to, or explained alien and obscure ‘land-lubbah’ customs to the young boy who'd often challenged the very possibility of such preposterous notions as cutting trees down to take them indoors to be decorated with lights, or getting in trouble for not wearing enough clothes, or the right kind of clothes.
Rikia marveled that Jack simply made it look so easy. She could see his effortless mentorship, the completely selfless modeling of masculine ideals she knew well. Patience, strength, wisdom. There was a quiet, confident peace when Jack and Tempesta were interacting that Rikia hadn't realized she'd been missing until recently. She found herself missing her father and family in that moment, and her thoughts strayed to her home island. A pang of sorrow welled in her chest, as she realized her son couldn't know the upbringing she had, with the tribe on their beloved little island. It wasn't far away, but simultaneously, it was so desperately distant.
The mentorship of her father and the other lutrai was only part of what was missing in Sol de Vida. While their little tribe on the island exhibited much of that nurture and tradition, some aspects were more difficult to share with her son, the way they would be shared in her home. She wanted Tempesta to know free and open love and affection the way she did; the way the tribe back home did. The taboo tradition that could only be selectively, carefully shared here, and only behind closed doors or secreted away among the most trusted of companions. There were only a few on the island that even knew of these traditions, and just three others who practiced them as she and Tempesta did.
As her thoughts wandered, she realized the bear stood out to her as one who may just understand. There was a natural comfort that came out with his interactions with the young lutrai; she could tell Jack saw Tempesta as a complete person, not just a child but a real, whole being with his own experiences and ambitions and thoughts and fears and rich experience in the world. Jack understood Tempesta's personhood intrinsically, and with that understanding, Rikia contemplated that, just maybe, Jack might understand her tradition.
After all; Jack had been through the Heatwave. He was one of those exceedingly rare few who, even beyond the lutrai tribe, understood the primordial language that entangled love, attraction, kinship, bonding, sex and romance into a single concept. She wondered if, just maybe, the Heatwave might help Jack understand her own desperate need to show her affection to her son in the ways she did. She wondered if it might bring the bear to share that need, eventually, as his bond with the young lutrai, and her, continued to grow.
It could be disastrous if she were wrong in her assumption, or her approach. It was a delicate topic with mainlanders especially, and one that could come at the risk of her home, or worse, her son, and her freedom. Sharing the truth with an outsider was a risk that hung in her mind like turbulent waters above a razor-sharp coral reef, ringed around a paradise island. The only way to get there would be to cross the dangerous waters, eventually. She wasn't sure how long she would be able to tread water and weigh the circumstances.
“Momma's gone fishin',” Tempesta's voice came, coupled with a merry little giggle as Rikia snapped out of her rumination and her eyes focused to find Jack and Tempesta both quizzically staring at her from across their workbench. Jack laughed along with Tempesta and smiled as Rikia's gaze met his.
“Welcome back. Everything alright?” Jack asked, with a genuine smile. It wasn't judgemental, but Rikia could detect a hint of satisfaction at having settled the score after she'd caught him lost in his own thoughts some days before.
“Awh, yeh, ‘m fine,” Rikia laughed, speaking more slowly and doing her best to keep her accent under control for Jack's sake, “Juss’ homesick. Ya' work wit' ‘im like m’daddy did wit' me, when I was liddle."
“Hopefully that's a good thing,” Jack joked with a little wink. “I don't know about you guys, but think we've earned a little stretch. I've been sat in the sand so long my legs are numb," Jack joked as he picked the young lutrai up and planted him on his feet in the sand. Jack held a hand out to Tempesta. “Help me up, squirt?” The young lutrai giggled and grabbed Jack's hand, pulling on it hard. Jack didn't budge, at first. “Aww, come on; I know you can do better than that!”
“I'm pulling as hard as I can!” the kit laughed, his feet digging ruts in the sand as they slid out from under him until Jack was the one holding Tempesta up. Jack laughed and put the kit back on his feet, before he rolled up to his knees and finally stood, then grasped Rikia's hand and helped her up. Rikia didn't let his hand go, as she strolled out toward the beach along the little trail between the rocks past the high tide mark, while Tempesta led the charge, running straight into the surf for a swim.
“Y'know, y'really do get ‘long wit’im well,” Rikia said, stretching the webbing of her right hand back as she interlaced her fingers with Jack's. Jack's thumb closed against the back of her hand, and secured it in place with a gentle curling of his own fingers.
“He's a good kid. You're raising him right,” Jack said as he watched the young lutrai push his way through the waves. “Hard not to love the little guy; he makes me miss being a kid again.”
“Yeh,” Rikia laughed her agreement. “You n' ‘im, though? If I gone n’ close m'eyes, could swear ‘m home. Y’ see ‘im, Jack, n’ … y'might not unnerstan', but s' worth more'n y' think. He ain' got much a' home ‘ere; leas’ th' home I know, y'know? S' good t' see him feelin' th' love,” Rikia said, thoughtful in tone as she and Jack wandered along the beach at a lazy stroll in the late morning sun.
“It's important, isn't it?” Jack wondered, inviting a querying look up from the lutrai at his side, as he looked down to her.
“Erruh?” came Rikia's querying vocalization, to which no sufficient translation had been decided upon between them over the last week.
“You know… Him knowing his roots. Your roots. Lutrai culture, Kij's love, lilies, wavedancing, all that lutrai stuff we've talked about.” Jack insisted as they slowed to a stop in the flat band of sand that bordered the water, each wave washing over their feet and sinking them just a bit deeper in the sand. Rikia sighed, and smiled up to Jack as she turned to face the bear.
“S'all I know. S'all I could wan' for'im, in m'eart,” she thumped her knuckles against her breastbone. “He gotta' know ‘is roots. S’ how th' tribe live on, y'know. Spread t' new places. New tribes come; like th' liddle tribe ‘ere. But,” Rikia lead, trailing off as her gaze dropped, and rumination threatened to steal her focus. Jack’s palm found her cheek, and a thumb caressed along it lightly as the bear drew her gaze back to his.
“But..?”
“Awh. I saw th' mainlan', y'know. Lutrai life's simple, Jack. Easy n' free, but ‘ere’s a whole worl' out there, n' ‘e d’serves t' know ‘at too, y’know?” Rikia said, “So, m'stuck. B'tween one n' another home,” Rikia said, wavering her hand as she struggled to relate the idea briefly. “… I'unno, after me n' Akamai saw th' mainlan', n' …all of that,” she laughed, “S'hard t' go back ta' th' tribe n' not wan'ta bring a lil' of that back wit' ya'." Rikia said, before shaking her head and giving another self-effacing little laugh.
“Yeah, I can see the contrast, you know. Though, take it from someone who's spent their whole life on the mainland,” Jack said with a faint chuckle, “It's not all it's cracked up to be, despite the fun distractions.”
“Awh, s'not juss' th' fun stuff,” Rikia laughed, “Wan' ‘im t’ have good learnin', y'know…fr'm both sides. ‘m a healer from my worl'…Kelly's a healer from yours. Bu' we know only a lil' that overlap,” Rikia said. "…s'it t'much t'ask tha' wherever th' kit land wit 'is life, ‘e get to know th’ best of both?"
“I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all. Sol de Vida seems like a decent split. That's why you settled down here, isn't it?”
“Yeh, but…same time, he don' have ‘is tribe at ’is back, ‘ere, save for th’ few that keep our way. S' why I love seein' you n' ‘im, th’ way you see ‘im n’ teach ‘im. ’e needs more a' that in ‘is life, without ’is daddy t' do it."
“It's a shame that you can't be closer to his father. You said it was complicated,” Jack lead. Rikia felt a flash of nerves, as if her secret had come close to being revealed.
“Eehh,” Rikia started, in the way she did when she wanted to signal she didn't want to talk about something. Thankfully, Jack seemed to pick up on it. It wasn't the first time she'd avoided the bear's curiosity on the topic, after all.
“Look,” Jack started, “I've got my own shit, so I get it. If it's a sore subject, we don't have to talk about it.” RIkia found the bear's plain language refreshing. She sighed, and forced a smile, then leaned in to embrace against the heavy curve of the bear's belly, nuzzling into the chestfur she could only barely reach.
“Thanks, Jack,” Rikia sighed. “S'not bad, ‘kay? Juss’…complicated," she said as she rubbed her cheek affectionately against the bear's bulk. Jack laughed, quietly, and held her close.
“I get it. I also get it can't be easy to raise a little dude like him all alone," Jack nodded toward the surf, where the young lutrai was still playing in the waves, "Look, if you open up to me, I'm just as likely to open up to you too. Once those floodgates open we're both in trouble,” the bear teased.
“Awh, c'mon, land-lubbah,” Rikia teased. “Can't be all that bad, ‘m curious ’bout what happened with you n' Em. Y' mentioned she was th' one the Heatwave put ya' with.”
“You…you sure you wanna' know?” Jack grimaced. Rikia could tell he was hesitant, but she nodded.
“Yeh. I wanna' know you, barnacles n' all," Rikia reassured as she shouldered up against the bear's side, and urged him to resume strolling through the surf with her, keeping up with Tempesta's slow migration down the coast.
“Well, shit,” Jack started, puzzling at where to start. Rikia gingerly curled her arm around his and leaned against him as they strolled through the sand.
“Well,” Rikia lead him, “Y'mentioned she was yer one durin' the Heatwave. N' you couldn't keep th' baby…” Jack grimaced, briefly.
“Yeah, uh. Our parents half-decided for us, but.. we had to make the call. We were both too young, you know? We hadn't built a future yet that would've been fair to raise a kid in. Not on the mainland, you know. I still regret it,” Jack admitted. “…If we were here, maybe. Or if we were Lutrai,” Jack teased, “It might have been different.”
“S' sad. Bettin' raccoon-bears woulda' been cuter'n a baby beluga," Rikia mused, and Jack couldn't help but smile.
“I bet they would've been, yeah. Anyway, we…tried to get back to life as usual. She got on birth control after the Heatwave and we really…well, you know how it was, I guess. Those first few months were pretty intense, but eventually we found a new norm. We finished high school and college. I asked her to marry me, and started working, and saving for the big house, and the wedding, and the ring and the dress and…” Jack took his own turn to trail off, and Rikia caressed her hand along his bicep to help bring him back. It was an effortless touch, that had its intended effect. “…And I waited too long, I guess. I was too preoccupied with setting up that perfect life for us where we could raise a bunch of kids and I lost perspective, and she got bored.”
“Bored? Hard t' believe,” Rikia said, “Nah' with a guy like you, leas'.”
“Well, that was the excuse, at least. She left, and I was…really messed up for a long time. I couldn't even really date, afterward, since I'd never really done it as an adult. It was a whole different world, you know? Then I bumped into her at a store after some time had passed, and …well, it just cut me even deeper, I guess. She'd married this guy we went to school with, was pregnant, and, well… Doing well. Happy for her, since she got what she wanted, but it still hurt, you know? Like; I could've been that for her, no problem, if I wasn't so stuck in my head and trying to make it all too perfect.” Rikia frowned, and strolled slowly alongside the bear.
“Glad y'can be happy for ‘er, but…s’ gonna' sting, yeh,” Rikia said. “I don' fake knowin' much ‘bout marriage, but bess’ I c'n guess s' as important to land-lubbahs s'our lilies are t' us Lutrai after spendin' s'much time ‘round ’em, yeh?” She wondered of the bear; it wasn't that she was terribly unfamiliar with the concept, but she was curious more what it meant to the bear, specifically.
“Lutrai don't marry? You don't ever want to settle down with someone?" Jack wondered. Rikia worried at the sound of disappointment in his voice, briefly, but quickly tried to explain.
“Awh, s'not like that, nah. Juss'…Lutrai life's open, y'know? We love who we love, n' claimin' someone like that juss' ain't on th' menu. Don' mean we don't wind up findin' a special someone, but…s' never exclusive, y'know. Kij tells us that love n' sex n' intimacy's meant t' be s'free-flowin' s' the water we d'pend on, y'know?" Rikia said, looking to the bear to gauge his understanding, and finding herself satisfied by what she saw. Jack just nodded, with a little smile.
“Sounds pretty great, especially for a Heatwave kid like me,” Jack joked, and Rikia laughed.
“'Eyy, ‘ere it is. S’not too dif'rent at leas', yeh, I feel th' same,” Rikia agreed, with a wistful sigh. “Mnh. Closest we got t' marriage, though? Our littles," she said as Tempesta finally swam up until he was able to stand in the surf, where he pivoted and flopped back in the wet sand, spread-eagle under the sun, giggling in amusement at himself. “…When a boy n' girl d'cide to have their first together, n' ask each other for it? S' that, y'know..” Rikia gestured, vaguely before just substituting the word, “S'that tell a' love ‘tween two tha’ss forever. S'like…two ships sailin' th' seas, but…they keep findin' each other anchored in th' same harbors. Th' littles're our safe waters; n' we find ourselves comin' back t'gether, there, again n' again.”
“What about the lilies?” Jack wondered, as she watched her son basking under Kij's light, the sun glittering in his wet fur.
“Awh, yeh. Lilies ‘re important too. S’ less…baby makin' love, more…mnh.” Rikia struggled to relate the thought as she lazily strolled toward the sprawled boy. “Mooore… ‘d give everythin’ in m' soul for you t'be whole, even if it costs me everythin',” Rikia explained. “M' lily's hollow t' show that. His lily's full, because mine's emptied for him. He's my sunrise.”
“My sunrise. I like the sound of that,” Jack said, with a warm smile. “Sorry if it's land-lubber-y for me to say, but…the way you use English has a certain sort of poetry to it sometimes, you know?” Rikia laughed.
“'eyy, Lutrai lessons get taught wit' likeness, y'know. Thinkin' s'where that come from,” she admitted. “Y'ain't th' first t'say that though,” she said, with a grin. “'ey, guppy! C'mon back, we gotta' get seeds in th' dirt,” she called to Tempesta, who perked, then got up to run back to the pair as Rikia paused to look to Jack. “Ey', uh…”
“…Yeah?” Jack wondered, looking down to her. Rikia's expression was a mix of conflict and care; a blend of consideration toward precision with her words as she thought it over in a brief pause.
“Y'know, Lutrai're pretty sexual, ‘right," she lead.
“Yeaaaah?” Jack urged.
“Awh, mnh. It c'n be hard t' temper that fer th' mainlander folk. Th', uh...wrong impression's gotten, sometimes, y'know? Like…mnh," she stopped short, to reconsider, and reapproached the topic. “Th'… th' Heatwave did it t'you too, right?” she asked, more timidly, as they walked back toward the end of the island at the same relaxed pace, while Tempesta ran along with them, only half-listening-in on their conversation as he dragged a stick through the sand.
“Yeah…I think so, but…what, specifically?” Jack wondered. He eased an arm around her shoulders and let her lean in against the bulk of his belly and side, and Rikia readily pressed to the warmth of his fur as they walked.
“Awh… Lutrai n' Heatwave both screamin' in m' head for freedom, y'know. Freedom for a rich sex life n' freedom to enjoy it wit' who I please. Without givin' the impression ‘m some cheap slut who’ll fuck anyone that c'n stick it in. Still meaningful, even if it's shared openly with those who're close,” Rikia said, finding the words.
“At least I know I'm not the only one,” Jack simply confirmed.
“Yeah-uhh, mnh. Lutrai know th' language, young n' old alike. Heatwave do, too,” Rikia suggested, with the barest testing of the turbulent waters that ringed her paradise island. “Leas', think tha's where that come from. Y'get it too, yeh?” she wondered, before clarifying, “Like earlier. Love, sex, intimacy…care, romance n' affection n' makin' babies is all part a' th' same language, yeh? Even when th' land-lubbahs think it might be …" Rikia rolled her eyes. “Cheap, or wrong, or …improper, or bad or whatever. Heatwave make it hard, sometimes, t' float that. Lutrai with Heatwave, even worse. But…y'understand the language, don'cha? S' why we c'n smell it on each other," Rikia joked, "N'… I think tha'ss what brought us t'gether so quick, yeh?” she probed.
“…The language, yeah… You know, I was just thinking about that a few days ago," Jack admitted. “Yeah. Folks on the mainland call it ‘Heatwave brain’ to make fun of us that got…changed, like we did. I know the language, though, yeah. Even when normal land-lubbers might, uh…" Jack hesitated, and Rikia looked up to him briefly. "…Well, yeah. Even when others might not understand why or how I could feel it, I can feel it every second of every day." Jack confirmed. “…From one Heatwave kid to another, I've been pretty certain since that night after the bonfire that the Heatwave was to blame for us hitting it off.”
“'ell, me too,” Rikia laughed a that, shouldering against Jack's side with a playful push. “Can…can we make a pact?” Rikia asked, stopping in the sand and letting her son get ahead of them. Jack turned to face her, and held her shoulder as she rested a palm against his chest. “…Promise me you'll … juss' be honest, okay? We don' need to hol' back from each other, like some land-lubbahs. Y'can speak that language t' me, n' I'll speak it back, ‘kay? No …y'know…no land-lubbah nonsense needed, n' no more secrets; no filter, like…when th' voice speaks y'let it out, kay?" Rikia smiled, hopefully, up to Jack. Jack blinked, and she could see the gloss in his eyes that sealed the authenticity of his confirmation.
“Sure, Rikia,” Jack said, with either a nervous or emotional little waver in his voice. “…Just be patient with me, okay? It's going to be hard to get used to not wearing the mask, you know. Land-lubbers are skittish about a …lot of things the Heatwave makes me think about,” Jack joked with a half-chuckle. Rikia just grinned and leaned up, and was thankful that Jack met her in the middle as their lips briefly met, and she kissed him sweetly.
"'course, Jack. At ya' own pace. Mnh. This gon' be a good summer, I think… 'ey, Tempie!” Rikia called abruptly. The young lutrai answered while dragging a bit of driftwood through the sand, making an unbroken line in the sand beside their footsteps.
“Yeah, momma'?” the kit wondered.
“Y'think a Lutrai longboard c'n keep Jack's head ‘bove water?” she mused. Jack puzzled a little at the sparkle in the kit’s eyes, and the thrill showing in his grin.
“Yeah, easy!” the kit responded with an eager little giggle.
“Yeaaaah, me too, guppy. Wha'cha' say we finish up plantin' our plants n' then teach this land-lubbah how t' wavedance like a real lutrai, since ‘e gonna’ spend all summah hangin' out with us?”
“Eeeee, yeah!” the kit squealed excitedly, running down the beach, obviously eager to do just that.
“Oh, no. Am I going to end up looking like a fool?" Jack groaned playfully.
“Yeh,” Rikia joked with a playful grin, “N' s' gonna' be a lot of fun. We gonna' make a Lutrai outta' you yet,” she teased, and Jack simply grinned at the thought of it.
Chapter Seven - Roots#
Jack's muscles ached from head to toe after several hours on the water fighting the relentless, but thankfully gentle, surf. He pulled the heavy, traditional redwood surfboard up the beach to lay it beside Rikia's past the high-tide mark. Jack was a little frustrated as he looked to the third board, a little embarrassed by how effortlessly Tempesta could handle his own board when Jack, despite the enormous advantage of size and strength he held over the little boy, felt he had to wrestle and coax his own to get it to follow his direction. Both Lutrai, frustratingly, had only teased Jack that he wasn't listening to the water, and neither seemed to be willing or able to elaborate further, but reassured him constantly that he'd learn in time.
Despite the frustration, Rikia and Tempesta had made it a fun and deeply educational experience. She showed him how Lutrai use their boards differently than mere ‘surfers’; her board was outfitted with uniquely crafted, waterproof shark-leather bags and pouches which were strapped securely onto her own board, providing the ability to actually carry a considerable amount of equipment and supplies on the water while still leaving plenty of space for the board to be maneuvered and balanced atop. She showed him how the surf moved along the atoll, and how to find the shallow and deep spots by the way the waves rose and fell in the water. She showed him how the unique design of their boards made them naturally want to face into the waves, where they would simply ride over the top of the waves while they were left unattended, staying perfectly static above the reef as their passengers dived without need for anchor. Jack didn't believe that claim at first, until he had hit his head on the bottom of his board twice on his way up from a dive, after which he had accepted the claim as truth in spite of the frustration he felt that the physics of what was happening did not make sense to him.
As the day wore on, in spite of his exhaustion, Rikia encouraged him to keep trying and keep trying new things, and even praised that he was getting better quickly both above and below the waves, even when Jack felt he wasn't improving at all. In the last hour however, Jack was truly starting to feel more confident atop the board in the surf; it'd been a long time since he had to manage his balance so precisely, but as he was re-learning how to do so, each attempt came more easily to instinct.
The day's lessons, coupled with the tide and the direction of the waves had steadily carried them along the little chain of keys that dotted the reef and stretched for miles off the end of Sol de Vida. By Rikia's reckoning, the little coconut-palm cay they'd landed on was only a half-mile out from the end of the main island, but Jack felt like a castaway as he looked at the expanse of water that now stretched between themselves and Sol de Vida, as the tide started to come in and swallow up the little lower-lying, crumbled-coral islands that peeked above the water at low tide. The young lutrai hurried around with his boundless Lutrai energy to gather driftwood into a pile, and Rikia flashed her signature smirk at Jack as he half-stumbled up the beach with heavy footfalls and threatened to collapse beside her as she worked to unfold the mercifully-dry blanket she had just retrieved from a bag on the back of her board.
“Baby bear gon' sleep good t'night,” Rikia mused, throwing the broad blanket out, letting it unfurl in the air before she unfolded it and let it land atop the sand, ten feet to a side. Its weave was coarse, but purposeful; allowing for sand to fall through the small holes in the weave to keep the top of the blanket from becoming sandy and gritty, but also, when laid atop or stood on, the weave collapsed and prevented sand from working its way up from beneath.
“I might not survive ‘til morning,” Jack groaned as he flopped back on the blanket. A yawn arrested his reflexes for a moment and he stretched with a gruff, ursine groan as his teeth bared, and his tongue curled. “I should’ve guessed what I was getting into, agreeing to take surfing lessons from a couple Lutrai,” Jack teased.
“Awh, thass' nothin', land-lubbah,” the Lutrai woman teased back. "C'n go miles further onna' board, leas' once ya' stop fightin' the water n' learn ta' listen." She was busily using her heels to dig out a rut in the sand, where she started piling in the driftwood the young lutrai was collecting. “Won' be so tirin' on ya' either. Fightin' th' waves ain' a battle ya' gon' win,” she teased. As Jack stilled on the blanket and closed his eyes, he could still feel the steady rocking of the waves under him, as if he were still atop his board.
“I can still feel the waves,” Jack laughed a little incredulously as he basked in the odd sensation of motion, despite the sandy ground at his back. Rikia ripped up a bit of dead oatgrass and crushed and twisted the dry grass in her hands as she leaned against the heft of the bear's big belly.
“S'a good sign. Gotta' find th' rhythm ‘fore y’can dance, yeh?” Rikia mused. “'ey, guppy! C'mere," the Lutrai woman called, and her son looked up from where he'd been distracted, trying to dig a sand crab out from its hole, then ran over.
“Yeh, momma'?” the boy asked, before gleefully accepting the small but incredibly sharp, knapped obsidian knife in its sheath that Rikia offered to him, attached to a strip of shark-leather to allow it to be worn like a sling.
“Y'wan' fin' us a couple nice fat' fishies 'fore dark t' help get Jack ‘is strength back? He gon' need it f’the swim ‘ome t’morrow,” Rikia suggested. The boy's eyes lit up with glee.
“Yeah, momma! I'll get big fishes!" the kit proudly announced, busily slinging the knife's holster from hip to shoulder across his chest as he ran out into the surf again.
“Sheesh…what I'd give to have that sort of energy,” Jack laughed, “I don't think I had it like that even when I was his age,” the bear rumbled.
“Awh, yeh. Lutrai always buzzin'. S'pecially th' kits. Should see ‘em playin’ back ‘ome, couple dozen runnin’ inna' gaggle ‘cross th’ beach up n' down, up n' down, all day'n night,” Rikia laughed as she tucked the oatgrass into a little nest shape, and rummaged in another pouch for a bit of flint and a scrap of steel; half an old door hinge that'd been worn considerably on one corner. She effortlessly struck a shower of sparks into the tinder, but had to try a few more times before one stuck.
“You really miss home, don't you?” Jack wondered. He could sense that homesick tone of hers easily, the same as it was earlier, when she talked of home.
“Yeh,” Rikia said, pausing a bit. The spark she'd struck into the tinder went out as it was ignored, while Jack turned to sit up beside her and look out across the water at the kit who disappeared into the surf. “Is' not his 'ome, though…s' good for us, ‘ere. Y’know? We got…home, here. Our home. Not juss' mine. Our liddle tribe, our liddle poa, our liddle restaurant. Our friends n' chosen family n' …sometimes, we get lucky n' get to share ‘at wit’ someone, too,” Rikia teasingly elbowed Jack in the side as she struck another spark into the bundle of tinder, and gathered it up to gingerly blow into it, feeding that spark with her breath until it smoldered, smoked, and burst into a small flame, which she was quick to tuck under a bit of the driftwood and feed with ripped-up strips of fallen palm fronds and coconut husk that had been gathered.
“I'm glad you want to share it with me, you know. You both do seem happy here, and it seems like everyone's great, really. This place makes me happy too, and I can't really explain why. I think…I think it's what I needed. It's good for me, you know? But…sometimes it feels like there's something in me fighting against that, too. Like, I'm not worthy of feeling happy, you know. I see it sometimes when I'm watching you, too; there's a sort of sadness that peeks through, still,” Jack said. They'd promised no filters, no secrets. Jack was intent on honoring that pact. “Trust me, I know that when I see it.”
“Yeh, I know ya' do,” Rikia confirmed. “I seen it in you, too. We both lost folks, in our own ways, y'know,” Rikia sighed, leaning against Jack a bit more heavily. “Sometimes moments like this r'mind me a' ‘ome. A liddle sadness ’r not, we got …everythin' we need, ‘ere. S’ good f'us, too.” Jack rumbled quietly and casually snuggled his arm around Rikia, who nestled in beside him as the little fire grew, and the driftwood started to crackle and pop as it caught.
“I wish something this nice reminded me of home,” Jack laughed with a little disbelief as he looked around. The little lutrai was still nowhere to be found above the water, though Rikia didn't seem concerned. He knew fully well they could hold their breath for more than four times as long as he could. There, for a moment, as the lull in conversation built with slow tension, Jack glanced down to find Rikia lost in deep thought again. He leaned down, and kissed her behind the ear, which returned that kind smile to her face.
“Mnh. ‘ey, can…can I confess somethin’, Jack?”
“No filters, no shame. I promised, same as you," Jack reminded her.
“When me n' Akamai were on th' mainland, uh…” she wavered with hesitation, and Jack simply reassured her with a palm at her side, rubbing affectionately over her flank. She turned and pressed her back to his belly and pulled his hand to her stomach, over the fertility mark just below her pierced bellybutton, and Jack's painstakingly-dulled thumbclaw caught the bellybutton ring effortlessly, toying with it. “We…we ‘ad this ol’ van, clunker offa' thing. Springy bed in th' back t' sleep on, n' drove it all over, chasin' music festivals n' good times, y'know. Did s'm surfin', n'…then headed inland," Rikia said. Jack could tell she was trying to stop herself from hesitating.
“Yeah? Is that how you wound up all the way in Aardvark Heights?” Jack rumbled with a faint chuckle. He caught motion on the water, Tempesta's head peeking above the surf for barely a second before he dived back in.
“Uh, yeh, lemme' tell the story,” she teased, laughing as she hooked an arm back and snuggled it around the bear's thigh as she leaned against him, the back of her wrist tucked barely between his balls and inner thigh. Jack certainly didn't mind the intimate contact. “S'w-uh, yeh, we head t' Aardvark Heights. Can't even r'member th' name of th' festival but..spen' th' whole weekend livin' out th' van, junk food n' drugs n' partyin' f'days on end. We, uh…was late one night, n' hot…r'membah, it'd rained juss' a liddle, but not ‘nuff to cool it off y’know; juss'…sticky n' humid n' sweaty an' …near mornin' me n' Akamai headed back t' th' van, an'…” she wavered again, nerves evident in her voice.
Jack reassured her with a gentle stroke of his thumb across her tummy, and the press of his fingertips against that fertility mark, giving a gentle, teasing stroke down lower over her mons. The touch was sexually charged, but only barely compared to where the Heatwave often caused those idle attentions to wander.
“Thass' the week th' Heatwave came,” Rikia sighed. She didn't turn to face Jack, but rested her head back against his chest as Jack's fingers wandered over the soft, velveteen fur of her folds with a delicate touch. “…Ah, uh…was late, but…th' drugs n' buzz n' energy wouldn't let sleep come…Akamai could smell th' Heat on me. Got me firs', ah' guess… ‘e was so fulla’ molly, didn' stan' a chance. ‘e wanted to help, n’…well. ‘mong Lutrai? Nah’ a big deal t'let a bruddah or sissah' help y'out a liddle when ya's little, y'know? But… Heatwave magic strong,” Rikia sighed, and turned her face against Jack's shoulder as his middle digit gingerly wormed up into her, and she arched her hips against his touch with a gasp. “Hmmnf…I had t' get fucked. ‘e was th’ one that was there, an’…well.”
“Akamai's your Heatwave,” Jack said, finishing the thought. She nodded, then gasped as the bear gingerly curled his digit inside her and hooked it up against the cluster of nerves that made her hips roll to press her stiff clit against the base of his finger.
“'e got caught up innit, yeh. Guess ‘avin’ me ‘roun’ was ‘nuff t’ set it off in ‘im… Ha! ’e bred me so fuckin' good,” Rikia laughed, crooning a sweet note as her hand naturally stroked deeper into the crook of Jack's thigh, before moving to the barrel of his sheath, feeling his hardening cock that had already spilled several inches into the open. “Must'a been ten time 'n one night, mnh. Van never smelled th' same again,” she giggled as Jack gave a rumble. He throbbed from her touch, and spilled a slick of precum down his own length, soaking the back of Rikia's hand while keeping an increasingly nervous, watchful eye out for the little lutrai to peek back over the waves. “I asked ‘im f’rit. F'my first, y'know… N'…well. ‘e gave him t’me. But…s'open as Lutrai are, w'got our taboos. Ain't evah' t'be bred by a siblin', parent, child. So…now we haf' ta' keep it secret. Both me n' ‘im too ’fraid w'can't keep it t'gether f' long ‘round one another, nah’ aftah' everythin'. Heatwave stuck us t'gether f'ra reason, ah' think…c'n imagine s'how y'feel ‘bout Emma’, even," Rikia crooned.
“Yeah…I get it. So that's why you can't go home,” Jack rumbled, hissing a faint breath through his teeth as Rikia's hand settled down against the side of his sack, leaving his arousal bobbing over the blanket and drooling a mess as the bear quietly willed the erection away before the little boy came back. He withdrew his finger from Rikia and tucked it into his mouth to lick it clean, before he spoke again. “Mnff…but, you're happy here, right? Even if you can be homesick. I get why you would be, even more, now.”
“Yeh,” Rikia sighed, squeezing her thighs together and squirming beside the bear. She lifted her hand finally and licked the drizzling of his precum from the back of her hand, then scooped up another dribble of it from under his glans for another taste. It didn't help Jack suppress his arousal at all, as he watched her. “It's…good, here. Good people, good tribe. Good life. Even gettin' used t'th' tourists n' land-lubbahs,” Rikia teased. She leaned up, and with a hand, drew the bear's muzzle down, and kissed him on the lips. A slow, lingering kiss that played her tongue against his, and they both quickly found themselves lost in that moment together as the sun sank behind the horizon behind them.
“Look, momma!” a little voice called from a short distance away. Their kiss broke, and Jack sat up with his knees together to hide the massive pink barrel of his fully-stoked erection from view between his thighs, as the little boy approached them with a giggle. He was holding two fat coral trout, already gutted and cleaned. “I caught good ones huh?"
“'ey, guppy. Yeh, you did. Nice big ones! C'mere, sweetie,” Rikia smiled, holding her arms out to invite the boy closer as Jack curled in over himself, trying to play it casual as Rikia embraced her little boy who proudly held the fish up to show Jack.
“Woah, look at them! Good catch, buddy.” Jack said with as much encouragement as he could muster. They were proudly fat fish, and Jack was genuinely impressed at the boy's fishing prowess. “Did you chase them down on the reef or are you bein' sneaky with a speargun hidden away under your board?”
“Heee! I caught them fair n' square!” the boy giggled, sitting down beside the fire in the sand and watching as Rikia took the fish and made quick work of settling them into fresh, broad leaves from a low-hanging tree of some sort, packaged tightly around the fish and tied before nestling them into the sand beside the lazily crackling little fire.
“Yeh, ‘e's a good lil’ fisherman. Gonna' be a good pr'vider for a pretty lutrai lady someday. ‘r maybe a lil’ vixen,” Rikia teased, and the little boy giggled.
“Uh-huhh! Me and Jannet are gonna' have a hundred babies an' we'll live onna' sailboat n' sell feesh!” the little kit giggled, and Jack let out a hearty, belly-shaking laugh at that.
“Oh, a hundred babies huh? That's an awful lot, buddy. But if you're a good enough fisherman you won't have any problem feeding them all," the bear rumbled.
“Yeah! An' we'll find nice shells an' make necklaces t' sell t' landlubbahs for money n' sail all over,” the little kit chattered as Rikia beamed, leaning back against Jack's side with her son squeezed to her chest, his head between her breasts.
“Mnh, thass' right, sweedie. Share th' lutrai love all over th' worl',” Rikia mused with a quiet sigh as the three settled in to watch the darkness creep over the beach. As the light fell, a glint of blue light began to appear in the dark, where each roll of the waves curled over itself and fell into turbulent waters against the beach. Jack took note first, and the others glanced to him as he remarked.
“Woah. Is that an algae bloom?” the bear wondered. He'd heard about them, and even seen a few pictures, though they didn't nearly do the real thing justice.
“Mm-hm, s'like clockwork wit' th' new moon, down 'ere,” Rikia said as she casually spooned her son, leaned against Jack's side. She casually stroked along his thigh, toying at his fur and rubbing the young lutrai's tummy as well, as Tempesta's energy finally seemed to find its limit and the boy relaxed, happy to soak up the belly-rubs with his erection standing up proudly from his lap as a result of the intimate caress so near his lap. “S'a good night for campin',” Rikia said quietly as their little campfire crackled and hissed beside them. She reached out, and flipped those palm frond pouches to bare the other side to the heat, and kissed her boy between the ears again.
“It is,” Jack agreed, transfixed by the surf that brought fresh ripples of light with each crashing of the waves nearly enough to tear his eyes away from the sight of the young lutrai's obvious and shameless state of arousal.
The bones and scraps of the devoured fish had been cast to the edge of a nearby tide pool, and were being picked clean by the more adventurous crabs that ventured beyond the water's edge. Idle, casual conversation had carried them deep into the moonless night, and as the three laid on the blanket under the stars, Rikia and Jack watched for shooting stars as Tempesta dozed, and eventually fell asleep laying atop the bear's chest and belly. Rikia was curled in at Jack's side with her head resting atop his shoulder.
“'ey, you still ‘wake, baby-bear?” Rikia asked with a hushed tone, nestling her shoulder a little more firmly into Jack’s underarm as she leaned up to nuzzle his throat. Jack rumbled in the affirmative, though sleep threatened to take him at any moment, seemingly.
“Mnh, yeah?” Jack wondered as he gazed up to the stars.
“Y'know…some'n else come wit' th' new moon,” Rikia said, quietly as she gingerly lifted up. She planted a kiss to the corner of Jack's mouth, and Jack turned his head with a curious look in the dark, only barely lit by the light of the tiny campfire that crackled beside them.
“Mmnh? What's that?” Jack wondered, his voice a low, bare rumble as he roused from his near-snooze to look up as Rikia rolled and knelt beside him, then planted a longer, deeper kiss on his lips. He happily complied, rumbling faintly as he felt the steady stir of arousal between his thighs growing unashamed into the cool night air in spite of the little boy sleeping atop him. Rikia broke the kiss with a smoldering, sultry smile that stoked Jack's arousal even more.
"Mnh. Three whole days'a bein' safe s' a ship in harbor," she whispered. The statement took Jack nearly a full second to process, before his eyes reeled open wider, suddenly alert.
“…Wait, r-really? I didn't think Heatwaved women ever…uh…oh, god,” Jack drifted off as Rikia's hand wrapped around his already-erect endowment and gave a smooth, gliding stroke up its length, smearing his precum into his flesh. Jack became acutely aware of the little boy still asleep on his chest, and gave a worried look down as his hand rested on the small of the little boy's back.
“Yeh, really,” Rikia quietly said, digging her fingers down into Jack's sheath to massage his root and make him throb urgently. Rikia caught the resulting, massive drool of precum in her free hand before it could land on Tempesta's tail, and used that hand to begin kneading the slimy slickness into the bear's flesh anew as she continued, “Been…been waitin' for tonight f'ra age it feels like,” Rikia crooned as she shuffled lower.
“Hah, you're so good with your hands,” Jack rumbled, trying not to squirm, but he couldn't help but work his hips into her pointed stroking even as his nervous, anxious energy grew with the weight of the little boy atop his chest. “Mnf…h-hey, uh…w-we might wake him up though, uh…”
“Nah," Rikia crooned with her soothing, sweet tone as she handled the bear's sturdy arousal, "He gon' sleep through s' sound's in ‘is own bed, cuddlin’ up on you,” she reassured Jack as she straddled one of his thighs, then pressed forward to kiss her pierced clit to the ring in the bear's sheath, handling his arousal up against her stomach as Jack shuddered and groaned softly under his breath. It'd been so long since he'd felt the unprotected touch of a woman's body against his own, and the mere prospect welled up in a thrill he felt churning in his balls with the Rikia's sodden folds kissing at his base, causing him to brew a fresh, surging ooze of semen-rich precum into Rikia's fur. Rikia gave a soft, sweet croon as she shuffled forward, and more boldly smeared herself up the underside the bear's glans with a relishing bit of teasing as she quietly crooned to Jack in the dim firelight, “N' so what if he does? ‘e gon’ see nothin' but love, n' get ‘nother lesson in th' way things are. You juss' cuddle up t' him n' be a good teddy-bear, n' let mama Riki' share th' love, yeh..?”
Jack was powerless to stop her, by this point. The Heatwave's need had been suppressed for so long that the promise of release that came with the firm press of his glans to Rikia's folds followed by the doughy, smooth split of her flesh around his brought forth a desperate upwelling of thick precum threaded with potent, overflowed semen. The mingled issuance of his hyper-fertile fluids and her own copious juices eased the first deep plunge of his flesh into hers that filled her to the cervix, smashing his glans recklessly against the snug barrier. Rikia gasped and churned down against it greedily; the urgency from her brought a fresh thrill to Jack, at the primal realization registered somewhere, reinforcing his knowledge that she'd been affected as badly as he had been by the Heatwave. His eyes rolled back and he huffed a hushed vocalization of pleasure as Rikia ground against him and rolled her hips, and Jack's thighs pushed further apart to help settle her lower into his lap as she kept probing her cervix with his tip, smearing flesh-to-flesh in smooth, silk-slick slides.
Jack desperately tried to slow the rise and fall of his chest, and the thudding of his heart behind the breastbone that the little kit's head laid against. He closed both hands across the boy's back and simply held him tenderly against his chest and tummy as his mother rode his lap, and Jack's toes curled against the blanket as he churned his hips in a slow, desperate grinding with Rikia's. She tenderly caught her son's tail and threaded it out from between their bodies, over Jack's hip and snugly out of the way as she rode him in a patient and effortless rhythm that allowed them to build a slow, simmering heat between themselves, smoothly urging and urging again as the bear panted.
Jack's attention drifted. He gazed to Rikia's form in the dark, the soft flickering firelight accentuating her curves. The angle of the lighting accentuated the ridge in her stomach as well, shoved up by the girth of his massive cock smashing to her cervix again; only to be encouraged there with eager, sturdy grinds down against it as the barrier began to ease itself looser. Jack knew what she wanted; it was the familiar urge that only Heatwave girls had. One he'd sated for Emma countless times before, effortlessly. Jack arched his hips, and the motion caused the weight to shift on his chest; a weight that drew his attention back to the sleeping boy, and brought Jack's churning hips to a halt, as he blanketed the little tyke under his hands again, holding him dearly as the boy buried his face in the bear's chest-fur before drifting back to sleep. Rikia never stopped riding him, sitting upright and working her way down against him, toying with her own clit to bring to life flutters and clutching, kneading milking rolls of her kegels around him that made Jack's eyes roll back in his head as he wordlessly vocalized under his breath.
“Don' worry, Jack. ‘e wakes up, ’e wakes up,” Rikia whispered, gathering one of the bear's big hands and pressing her palm to it, “'e ain' no land-lubbah. Th' guppy'd be more likely t' ask t' play ‘long th’n, mmph, w'ever's you thinkin',” she purred, effortlessly entrancing the bear's instinctive Heatwave need with her words as he held her hand and embraced the boy's head to his chest endearingly, lowering his muzzle to breathe in the little lutrai boy's scent through his messy hair.
Hmmnf, d-don't tempt me with things like that, the fading vestiges of Jack's conscious thought meagerly begged, as Rikia weighed down again, and he felt the loosening slip against his glans. His hips arched, and Rikia's ground down as that snug ring slickly glided down three inches, and sat the lutrai woman solidly atop his balls as Jack shuddered bodily, and the Heatwave effortlessly broke down his last safeguards. He couldn't help but pulse a powerful bolt of mixed precum and semen directly into her womb as he felt himself seat properly, exactly how the Heatwave demanded. Another utterance rose from the bear, overwhelmed and dripping with need, “Oh fuck, Rikia, yeah. H-he could watch, I'd, nngh, I-I'd show him how.”
“Hah, y-yeah, mnh,” Rikia urged as she rode him, slowly working his very end through that tight ring as she whimpered out a sweet noise herself at the sensation of Jack's urgency rising, and the pulses of thick fluid already washing the inside of her womb as the bear's excitement rose rapidly. “Mmnh, s'okay, yeah,” she repeated, “You gon' make a good daddy, Jack. Y'can put your cub in m' tummy, n' show 'im how, too,” the lutrai woman whispered, her own fantasies cutting straight through to the bear's very soul. He was instantly sure that she felt exactly how he did in that moment; a statement like that wasn't from the conscious mind, in the moment. It was a declaration made directly from one Heatwaved mind to another, received instantly and without question nor consideration. Jack's eyes unfocused as his fingers closed around Rikia's, and he felt the first intense pulse of climax wracking him, resulting in a powerful surge up from his balls, flooding Rikia's womb with nearly half a pint of pent-up seed as the bear groaned another gruff note out. Rikia simply kept urging him.
“Hah!" she exclaimed in surprise, "Thassit, mph…Guppy love ya' s'much; y'gonna' be a good daddy, show ‘im ’ow a Lutrai treat ‘is lady, make ’im a liddle sissah, Jack..!” she continued as her own excitement rose with each potent, flooding surge of hot, thick bear semen pounded against the back of her womb. She continued urging the bear along as he overwhelmed her body's capacity, and a thick, pouring ribbon of his seed flooded out from between himself and Rikia, over his own balls and the blanket. Jack blindly reached and palmed her chest, compressing one of the Lutrai woman's petite breasts under his paw as his fingers tucked under her arm, and she rode him and whimpered in glee, egging the bear along as his own powerful pulses began stoking the fires of her own trembling need. A fresh whimper, shuddered by her arousal, issued forth as her body flexed around Jack's arousal and fluttered before settling into a powerful, rhythmic series of Heatwave-orgasm contractions that worked in near perfect counter-time to Jack's own. The intensity rose high, their desperate clutches and throbs began to reinforce one another with Jack's sheath tightly smashed to Rikia's stretched folds, and his pulses poured out from around his arousal, into his sheath before surging up from between them to soak in waves over his pubic fur and in thick, coating sheets down his massive balls.
“Hnngh, ah-yeah,” Jack vocalized under his breath, uttering another shuddered huff of humid breath into the night air as a fresh bolt of his thick semen poured into Rikia. The slow ride had brought about a smoldering, furious but prolonged climax, stoked further by Rikia's effortless urging as they both rode out the Heatwave's rhythms together with her steadily churning in his lap. The bear tucked his chin and grunted under his breath through the sleeping boy's messy hair as another massive, overflowing surge of seed managed to leap from between them with enough force to land in a potent streak across the naked lutrai boy's back from ass to shoulder-blade. The thick issue immediately began to roll down the kit's waterproof fur, leaving a lingering coat of pearly slime in its wake. “Haa-ungh, gonna' make him a little sister - hnngh… - and we'll show him how to breed her together,” Jack panted, giving into his desire to share the fantasy that the Heatwave was looping in his mind. “W-we'll show him how, and help him learn; ngh… I wanna teach him, I wanna see him learning,” Jack rambled as the pleasure of his prolonged Heatwave climax rolled through him in urges. His eyes opened, and Rikia's gaze caught his as they focused, her chest rising and falling quickly under his palm, his claws digging grooves in her hot, damp, impossibly-soft fur as they trailed under her arm and down her side.
“Ah, Jack; y'can…mph. He need a good teacher,” Rikia whimpered, trembling as the bear found his grip at her hips and pulled her down, pinning her in place as his hips rolled with hers, and the little lutrai atop Jack's belly rode the wave of plush fat under the bear's thick fur as it was jostled into motion by the adults' slowing movements until they came to a standstill with Jack's cock still pushing a massive, visibly-throbbing ridge up the midline of Rikia's stomach as the lingering surges of their slow-rolling climax faded until the two were simply churning against each other as the excess effluence from the bear rolled in steadily-refreshed waves around his sheath and balls.
Rikia was the first to break after several minutes spent soaking the bear, his cock buried within her and stretching her womb around its flared glans. A simple snort, a soft snicker and incredulous, joyful laugh rose from Rikia as her senses began to return and she reeled in the moment. Jack's fuck-drunk expression broke effortlessly into a broad grin as he arched his back slightly and steadied the boy atop his belly as Rikia rose and lifted off of him, then slumped at his side to grasp his drooling, still-hard member in her hand, polishing that shared slickness over his flesh once again. A tender lean forward lowered Rikia's muzzle to suckle a fresh taste from his tip, before she followed her nose to the broad, slimy streak that had landed across her son's back, where she patiently and lovingly lapped the little lutrai's fur clean of the bear's potent seed as the boy slept soundly against the bear's chest, unaware. She was purring, and Jack was still panting as Rikia pumped her hand on his unspent arousal, causing the bear to press his thighs further apart with eager urgency as he gathered Rikia against his side and, from behind, buried his middle digit back inside her, smearing his drooling issue back up into her body and teasing deep within her with his blunted claw as they settled in together.
Their attention drifted back to the meteor shower in the dark as the young boy was gingerly nestled against the bear's opposite side, gathered down under the bear's arm where the boy curled in under the bear's loving embrace, and Rikia rested her head on Jack's shoulder.
“Mnh…ah' needed that,” Rikia sighed, smiling as she milked a fresh oozing of the bear's seed onto his belly, marveling at the bottomless fountain of fertility, interest effortlessly stoked by the bear's lazy pumping of a digit through her walls, interspersed by occasional circling of a finger-pad against her clit.
“Ha!" Jack uttered in a breathy note, still hushed. “…me too, yeah. Nngh, you definitely slow-burn like a Heatwave kid,” Jack teased, and Rikia grinned, nuzzling down and rubbing her nose against the bear's shaggy, warm shoulder fur.
“Mnh, you ain' seen nothin' yet,” Rikia giggled, gasping and rolling her hips as the bear ground the back of his knuckle against her g-spot.
“Can't wait to see,” Jack mumbled, before a yawn brought forth bared teeth that glinted even in the moonless dark.
“Mnh…y'know, all that talk about th' Gupppy… he got it bad, too,” Rikia mentioned as she lazily polished her grip behind the ridge of Jack's glans to feel the unfaltering erection throb in her hand.
“Mnh? Really?" Jack wondered. Rikia sighed and rubbed her face into the bear's fur more as she crooned a sweet noise, and her body clutched around the bear's digit for a moment.
“M-hm, mnh… s'bad as either'f us at leas'. Bettin' every cubby from th' Heatwave gottit same's ‘e did,” Rikia quietly purred. “Y’seen it, saw y'notice at th' bonfire. He n' his liddle girlfrien', s'what that is.” Jack's grin stretched broader in the dark, and he had to suppress the urge to laugh out loud; supplicating it with a slow grind of his hips that pushed his throbbing cock through Rikia's grip slightly.
“So they were fucking, I just didn't catch them in the act,” Jack mused. Rikia stifled a giggle into the bear's underarm, before breathing a slow, deep breath of the bear's scent through her nose, before snuggling her head back onto his shoulder.
"M-hm. Wh'never they c'n get a second a' privacy, n' often even when they can't. ‘armless ’nuff now, but… We gon' hafta' raise ‘im n’ Jannet wit what we know ‘bout th’ Heatwave, y'know." Rikia purred absently as she pressed closer to Jack's side. Jack nearly choked at the suggestion as the non-Heatwaved part of his mind registered her phrasing.
“We?” Jack asked, doing his best to not sound too alarmed. He wasn't put off at the suggestion, of course; but it was unexpected enough to come as a shock. Rikia seemed to register the bear's tone, and sat up; a movement that slipped the bear's digit free of her, and allowed the steady drool of his issue to resume flowing from her in a steady stream.
“Ah, uh…y'know what I mean, Jack. Our liddle tribe, like…me n' Kelly, n' Ric; they know th' Heatwave too, like us. Half our liddle tribe,” she said, with a vague vocal scrambling, “I, uh..ah, sorry, ‘m not askin’ you t' give me a Lily ‘re somethin’,” she giggled, and Jack grinned at her. His hand lifted to draw her closer, and he leaned up to kiss her warmly before he spoke.
“Mnh. So that's why I'm kind of hot for Kelly and Richter too. Got it,” the bear laughed after the kiss, before he bumped his forehead to Rikia's and shared a breath with her in a slow sigh that escaped them both. “I have to admit, I would like to be part of that, though, while I can. It wasn't just Heatwave-brain rambling about wanting to teach him,” Jack admitted, though as soon as the words escaped his mouth he felt a brief pang of worry.
“I'd like that, too, yeah,” Rikia admitted, sighing and uttering a soft noise as she nestled back in and pressed her face to Jack's chest, toying her fingers through the bear's cum-soaked belly-fur idly as she tucked close to him. “Mnh, lookit you. Makin' love unner th' stars on th' beach, fallin' asleep fur all a mess. Sure'nuff we gonna' make a Lutrai outta' you yet.” Jack sighed, closed his eyes, and held Rikia close under his right arm, with Tempesta cozied securely under his right.
“Mnh, if this is what it's like to be Lutrai, count me in," the bear rumbled, and a mere few beats of quiet later, deep, dark, dreamless sleep had carried them both to morning.
